When Claire began volunteering at Villa Youville, she simply wanted to give back. What she didn’t expect was how much her weekly visits would mean to one resident who had recently lost her spouse. Through regular coffee chats in French and shared memories of Ste. Anne, a sense of belonging was restored. Sometimes, impact begins with simply showing up.
After a hospital stay, a resident returned feeling uncertain about living independently. With coordinated support from Home Care and encouragement from staff, she gradually rebuilt her routine. Today, she proudly attends community meals and activities again, confident in her ability to remain in her home.
At a shared meal in the Pavillon Restaurant, a new resident sat alone on her first day. Within minutes, two long-time residents invited her to join them. What started as a simple lunch turned into a weekly tradition. At Villa Youville, friendships are formed one conversation at a time.
During a Francophone celebration, residents, volunteers, and staff gathered to sing familiar songs.
