Villa Youville held its annual volunteer recognition banquet on Thursday, June 1st. Paul Ruest, Villa Youville’s CEO, highlighted the importance of the volunteers’ contribution to the organization. In 2016-2017, the Villa had 78 registered volunteers who donated 22 984 hours of work, an estimated $575 000 value. More than 11 full time employees would be required to offer these same services. Mr. Ruest offered special thanks to Villa Youville’s two resident nuns, Sister Céline Vermette and Sister Irène Rioux, whose individual contribution in terms of time exceeds that of full time employees. This mention was warmly applauded by attendees. As in previous years, four volunteers received special recognition for their outstanding contribution:
- Paulettte Pylatiuk for her contribution to the congregate meal program;
- Sister Céline Vermette for her exceptional contribution to numerous activities in all sectors;
- Gisèle Connelly for her long standing commitment as a volunteer, more significantly in pastoral care;
- Jeannette Ruest for her exceptional commitment to activities, in particular her singing cafés and cooking activities.
Gilbert Audette, director of services, thanked the event’s organizing committee, Michelle Brémaud, Nicole Trudeau, Valérie Laroche and Marie-Claude Pelletier for their wonderful work. The evening ended with a musical presentation by Lucie Grégoire-Chartier which was greatly appreciated by one and all.
